June 2003 World Doll Day
We made Diana Effner's Sweet Dreams for
the Shriner's Pediatric Burn Hospital in Galveston, Texas this
year. On World Doll Day, June 14, 2003, we put the finishing
touches on the dolls and finished up the bears we made for the
boys. On Thursday, June 19, 2003, we delivered them to the
children. We all had a wonderful time at the hospital and
they were so glad we came. It made us feel that we made a
difference, even a small one.
I had a lot of help from many friends
throughout the United States, the PDMN, who made dolls, donated Ty
beanie babies for the dolls to hold, dresses to wear, Global
for donating wigs, and my wonderful friends and students for this
labor of love. Look in the Gallery for some pictures of the
children.
We are now in the planning stages for World
Doll Day 2004. We will be making Diana Effner's Sweet Dreams
again for MD Anderson so we need to get busy ladies!! All
your help is appreciated and very special thanks to all of the
ladies in our shop for all of their great assistance.
We would love to have you come and see
all of the projects available. Happy dollmaking.
